Needle Tips
The needle tip is ideal for drawing fine lines, similar to an etching, onto monotype plates and paper.

Needle Applicator Set

Needle applicators are ideal for drawing lines onto monotype plates. The small bellows bottle fits comfortably into the palm of your hand. Stainless steel flow-through needles will not clog and withstand repeated use.
The lines produced by the tips are similar to those from technical pens. Angled Tips, are rigid and angled at 45 degree angle for ease of drawing precise lines. The Plastic Flexible Tip creates the finest lines while the Plastic Tapered Cone Tip makes bold, wide lines. The Plastic Tapered Cone Tip is very tough and so it is fine for kids to use.
USE AKUA KOLOR IN NEEDLE APPLICATORS. Akua Intaglio is too thick.

This set offers both Pen and Needle Applicator. It includes a Bellows Bottle with an Angled Tip (size varies), a Plastic Flexible Tip for ultra fine lines, an Adapter Cap so you can use the Needle Applicators on the Pen body, plus a Pen with three tips. (Ink sold separately).

Bellows-Bottle
The bellows bottle fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. Fill with Akua Kolor and use for drawing or fill with water and use to flush needle tips clean. Refillable Bellows holds 1 oz of liquid.

Needle Washer Bottle
Use the Needle Washer Bottle to clean needle tips. To use, fill the Needle Washer Bottle with water, place tip on cap and flush the water through the tip. This squeezable plastic bottle holds 8 ounces of water and can be used for long periods of time with out changing the water

Refillable pens hold up to 2 ounces of Akua Kolor and fills easily through the wide mouth. They will not leak, making them easy to carry, use, and store.
Pens come with felt tips. It is necessary to add an adapter cap to the Akua Pen body to use Needle Tips. If you have not used Akua Kolor pens and applicators before, the Introductory Applicator Set would be a great start. It includes both a Pen and Needle Applicator so you can see what each one does.
Felt Tips
Felt tips are used for drawing a variety of types of lines onto monotype plates and paper. The lid has a unique pump valve that allows the user to control the flow of the ink and helps prevent puddling of ink on the plate. Choose from three interchangeable felt tips that can easily be removed for cleaning and replacement.

Fill these dobbers with with Akua Kolor for creating wide, rounded strokes or stenciling on monotype plates.
They have a soft, sponge, rounded tip.

MONOTYPE BRUSH TOOL SET (set of 6, 2-sided tools)
Use the tool end for removing ink from the monotype plate (reductive monotype). Easily switch to the brush end for applying ink to the monotype plate (additive monotype). An assortment of 6 brush tools offer a variety of styles for mark making. Use with Akua Kolor or Akua Intaglio inks.

DIP PEN & PALETTE SET
For creating monotypes and works on paper with Akua Kolor. Set Includes: Traditional calligraphy-type dip-pen with a range of six, fine to wide sized nibs. Rounded nibs will not scratch the surface of the plastic monotype plate. Palette has 10 wells and 3 mixing areas for pen or brushwork. Instructions for creating additive monotypes are included.

PLASTIC MONOTYPE PLATES
For best results use Polycarbonate or PETG plastic sheets. Acrylic (Plexiglas) is not recommended because it is brittle and cracks easily under the pressure of the press or if it is dropped. For best results, use thin plates such as (0.03) or (0.04). Thick plates will cause dry paper to wrinkle when going through the press. Thinner plates may be too flimsy and difficult to handle when printing.
Polycarbonate
Tough and durable, polycarbonate is ideal for monotype, textures and applications requiring a lot of pressure or repeated use. Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable.
PETG is durable but softer than Polycarbonate. It is appropriate for monotype but if textured materials are placed on the surface when going through the press a slight impression will be embedded into the plastic making it no longer suitable monotype.
